Surface Design Journal Fall 2009
My work was the cover and a feature article (April Wood: The Body Explored) in the Fall 2009 issue of Surface Design Journal. Back issues are available to purchase online at http://www.surfacedesign.org
Metalsmith living and working in Baltimore, MD. I received my BFA in Art from Texas State University - San Marcos and my MFA from Towson University. I create sculptural work that has a direct connection with the human body, specifically focusing on the boundary of the mouth and the different ways we breach that boundary. This work addresses issues surrounding consumption, control, sexuality/sensuality, and feminist issues of domesticity and body politics.
